I was home sick with another stomach bug (I have IBS) the last couple of days; but had hoped to get a chance to do something with Michael this weekend, since it will be our 3 year anniversary of being together (Sunday). No, we aren’t married – don’t need to be -lol.
Had to laugh because M is so NOT a romantic man, in fact he forgets to look ahead at the calendar when I put these ‘things’ on there. So when I reminded him AGAIN, he smiled and said, “well, I had made reservations at Cannon Beach but cancelled when you said you weren’t feeling well”. (me): “WHAT?! NO, I SO WANT TO GO…” (late on Friday afternoon). I asked if he could get the place again and he said he’d try. With as much effort as I could muster, threw some stuff into my duffle bag and said – “come on, lets go”. He laughed and said, “I haven’t called them yet”. (me): “who cares, we will find something damn it,” my stomach has subsided – at least from the nasty horse pill the doctor prescribed (I wasn’t sure if it was a suppository or butt plug? – TMI – ha ha).
Even if I’m on my death bed, I want to die near the ocean! I love Cannon Beach and I needed this. So we quickly drove off with our last minute road trip survival stuff (aka, jeans, sweats, undies, hiking pants & assorted jackets) and off we went. Of course, had to meander through stupid afternoon traffic, a few bathroom breaks and we arrived late. But, because of the ‘semi-stormy weather’ we didn’t have a problem finding a place to stay – several vacancies.
Michael and I do best together on these adventures anyways when we have ventured out in the storm (we literally have), we’ve been here (CB) during the winter because we love the crashing waves/wind/surf and have walked on the beach during those times – laughing and eating lots of sand. We’ve also done the same at Ocean Shores (at his brothers house) – (not a fan of OS, it’s getting rather dumpy to me) but we decided once to take a very long walk to the city and on our way back, went along the oceanfront only to also get stuck in a very ‘white rain’ (when it looks white & your can’t see) and had to walk over debris, the waves occasionally hitting us and then when we finally arrived we laughed so hard because we couldn’t remove our soaked clothes from our cold bodies. And another time was also close to Cannon Beach when we hiked up Oswald State Park (absolutely beautiful) and almost slid down the mountain because, once again, the rain caught us. But the view from the top of the cliff was too amazing to forget!
But I digress, I’m sitting here HAPPILY now on Saturday morning and the sun has cleared and I look forward to our beach hike/walk and this little weekend adventure!
More to come…
