We had a great time last night celebrating Cinco de Mayo – Frida Kahlo themed! I want to thank those great friends who attended (and those whom we missed, but were glad to hear from). It was great seeing Erica and Katie again too. I missed seeing Katie at work and it was nice to catch up a little as well. She also took some great photos for me (which I will share here) and had the BEST compliment (that I needed) that she posted on Facebook “I loved every thing you did for this party, it still makes me laugh looking at the pics of you and your sister looking like Frida(s) – so awesome… I love how you bring out so much by working in all the little details. We had a great time tonight!”
I want to sincerely thank my little sister, Monette, once again also for her help and for the great makeup job! We rocked the unibrow & mustache perfectly! 🙂 I’m glad I made her wear the ‘costume’ with me too, was fun being semi-twins. HA HA Especially since it made our guests laugh.
And thank you Erica for the Sosio’s avocado’s – sorry I didn’t use them last night, but I will call it an ‘exchange for mom’s tortillas & beans’ (ha ha).
Lastly, thanks to our mom for her amazing tortilla’s (loved the large stack), rice and refried beans – it wouldn’t be a Spanish meal without them. Yum!!
Here are some of my props/decorations – I printed out several of Frida’s art pieces and had them all throughout downstairs, even in the bathroom (to feel like a little gallery).
Thank you guests – Erica & Peter; Katie, Craig & Aiden; my lovely little sister, Monette, mom & Jeff; Jared, his beautiful wife & adorable daughter (Michael’s colleague). Sorry we missed Kathy, Carol, Wendy, Amanda and Adam – hopefully next time! Here is some of the food/drink photos – I made carne deshebrada (beef), coleslaw (two versions), street corn salad, and a beef/rice casserole (eh…) along with a pineapple & regular margarita and a white wine sangria. The regular margarita went quickly (had to make more), but we all added some spice by adding jalapeno’s to it – very yummy!
Here are some of the photos that we took (and thankfully Monette took for me) as well.
Here are the great photos that Katie took…
And here are ones from Monette & Jeff…
