Thursday, January 7th – enjoying a solo night (as Michael is in SFO for work and went to the Sharks hockey game)! I’m GLAD he had that time with his dad.
But even better, I liked MY solo night, which of course, allows me the chance to watch ‘Chick Flicks’. LOL Tonight’s choice: I’ll See You in My Dreams with Blythe Danner and Sam Elliott. Rotten Tomatoes score is a 69 (lol – sorry, just found that silly since I was/am also enjoying a glass of champagne with Red Ruby Grapefruit juice). But other ratings were higher.
I chose this one since it IS about ‘older women’ (you know, us over 50 crowd) (hee hee) and it’s amusing how she becomes friends with her pool boy (okay he’s older than a boy) and also the Speed Dating was/is funny – especially since the women are again, over 50.
OMG it is funny as hell to hear the men’s lines: “I’m going to cut to the chase here, if that’s okay? Sex is still very important to me.” (Her response: “OH”) “You know, what if I have herpes, anyways, well I don’t have herpes, but it’s okay if you do.” (HA HA) “Let’s just get right to it and have some fun, shall we?”… Next man: “The most important thing is that your around all the time, the last woman I dated was never there, she was always out playing bridge, going to the movies, having coffee with friends…” (as he has this stern nervous look on his face). HA and poor Blythe’s character (Carol) has this FEAR on her face. HA HA so apparently even as we age it does NOT get any better! Thankfully Sam (Bill) drives up – and come on, how can you not like that deep, sexy voice!?
Let’s give Blythe lots of credit for her singing too! Funny, since a previous Chick Flick I watched was: And So It Goes with Diane Keaton (also lounge singing). Very classy!
The funniest part was watching the 4 women friends smoking pot! OMG they use the vapor and first they’re all MELLOW (one says, “I knew I shouldn’t have smoked this stuff, you turned me into an advanced Alzheimer patient”… ha ha The ladies then head to the supermarket since they got the munchies! OMG they then get pulled over by a cop (walking on the street with a shopping cart, he tells them it’s theft to take a shopping cart). Can you imagine seeing this – either with your grandmothers or yourselves?
What I also loved about this movie is both Blythe and Sam’s voices. Their both MELODIC voices, his, deep and sexy and hers is a bit raspy but calming… The funny thing about this movie is that my good friend/colleague – TANYA actually got to meet Sam (she even has a photo with him – sexy Sam and Tanya’s big smile) when she saw this movie at the SIFF (here in Seattle) – jealous! 🙂 LISTEN to the good music in the movie too… enjoy!
So – as you can obviously tell, I RECOMMEND this movie (at least for a good Chick Flick night) and for my Over 50 friends (as well as those of you close to it). HA HA
Night all and have a great Friday!
