Weekend Update: started with us dropping off my little car to my daughter and her boyfriend (after work on Friday) so that they could use it to head out to Cannon Beach, Oregon this weekend. Michael and I had given them a hotel stay for their 4 year anniversary (1/11) (as part of their Christmas present). And unfortunately they just had a car accident (during the holidays) so Rob’s car wasn’t good to take and poor things I knew they also needed this trip (mentally).
(They ARE happy & even enjoyed a beer at Bill’s Tavern (M gave them money to grab one each on him). XOXO
After dropping off the car, we went to get E (apparently his mom ‘needed a break’ – don’t get me started on that…), we were going to try to go bowling, but poor E had been dealing with a cough & still sounded sick. So we decided instead to just do a movie night at home. I made spaghetti and we all enjoyed watching the Penguin movie. Had some good laughs.
Saturday morning we waited for E’s mom to come pick him up (showed up late – no surprise) so it felt like we lost most of our day. We did manage to go see the new movie: The Reverent – and we NOT disappointed. It IS a graphic movie (I won’t tell you all the details) – BUT, both M & I were VERY taken with the cinematography and how it was filmed! Leonardo definitely deserves an Oscar, but so does the team! WOW – you felt like you were part of the movie from the filming, the sound affects and the feel. When we got home, I told M that I definitely NEEDED a hike and he got excited and agreed! (We had gone on a short hike a week ago, but didn’t get too far (E was with us), so we decided to go back to Kautz Creek and see how much further we could get.
Sunday morning, we headed back to Rainier for our hike. I have to tell you that we are both in BAD shape (again) – too much winter weight, so I wasn’t expecting to get too far, but I know that we love doing this and need it! And we were lucky with the gorgeous sunny weather…
I will admit – I LOVE these photos – I didn’t do too bad… 🙂
As you can tell, besides the dorky outfits, we definitely needed the spikes on our boots. I’m glad M has also made ME into an REI’afied member too – I love my boots, spikes and layers. I will also share that there was a LOT of heavy panting & whining, and no that wasn’t from anything sexual or good – lol, it was ME. But it was after we got over the water and started to head UP the hill.
We stopped at a little over 2.5 miles to eat lunch (didn’t make it up as high as we wanted, but we did at least get a GOOD uphill workout. Some of these were taken as we headed back down. This one below is one of my FAVORITES – caught the sunlight just perfectly!
What a great way to end the weekend.
