My apologies, but as you can see, I’ve been M.I.A. Well, like most of you, between work and then the holiday (Memorial weekend) just had so much to take care of. But if you follow me on Instagram and/or Facebook, you can see a couple of my quick photo installs.
So a quick synopsis: we took another ROAD TRIP to California… (yes, I know some of you have seen this before) – but this time we were taking the new car – my baby girl, Topless Wonder (aka The White Stallion). LOL I’m a true southern girl with the need for speed (always have had a lead foot) and following Little House’s plumbing issue (and loss of $7200 later), I NEEDED this trip! Happily Michael said he would pay for it so I decided to also be as frugal as possible (I’m not THAT type of girl – hee hee) but I also wanted to get away from the house, pets and work.
I’ll give you a quick version of some of the places/stops along the way and just share my photos – this trip was really involved no plan and the need for a mental break to enjoy some of Mother Nature’s Beauty. To feel the sun on our faces, the wind in our hair and to enjoy each other’s company!! Luckily M.N. gave us great weather (a few cloudy days and some sprinkles along the way) but ironically we went TOPLESS almost all of the way! And have the sun burns to show for it, but also had the biggest shit-grins we could. Our usual drive is Interstate 5 from Seattle to Grants Pass, Oregon. From there we took route 199 to Crescent City, CA and then hopped on to Highway 101. This saved us a little time and less traffic. But once we were on Highway 101 (which I love) you then follow along the gorgeous Pacific Ocean coastline. BLISS…
This route (also known as Redwood Hwy) takes you also into ‘part’ of the beautiful Redwood National Parks.
This is from Leggett (sorry but car/phone photo) but gives you an idea of the ‘fun’ we had… the road is a simple two lanes and with some bends, turns and very narrow paths (watch for falling rocks). Oh and the speed limit (those are just ‘goals to exceed’ – lol). We made it this far about 7:00pm that evening – as we head toward Mendocino.
Again, apologies for the phone photos, but I was enjoying the ‘ride’ as Michael was feeling the need for speed. Couldn’t get a good photo/video for you – but this should give you some indication into what I was shit-grinning about…
Our first ‘non-scheduled’ hotel stay: a B&B called Didjeridoo Dreamtime Inn. I did the quick expedia search for the closest in-town place and this is what I found. It was quite ‘fun’ – old victorian home converted with the cutest/nicest hippie owner. And exactly what we needed, a walk across the street and your overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean! Unfortunately no view from our room, but oh well. Cute, right?
We had late dinner that evening and the next morning woke up early, took a walk around the town (which is very cute, but not lots to see) – again it wasn’t about seeing anything in particular.
Of course I fell in love with the charm of the coastal town and some of the cute cottages (and these are fence ideas for Little House)… Michael said its a good thing there’s not much fence area in front of Little House… can you tell why? LOL
Before we get our coffee and then head out for the next location…
We are back on the road, more beauty along the Pacific coast…
Love that we followed the turquoise corvette (that was one of the first and only ‘vettes I thought I wanted when I was younger) – convertible, of course.
Well, I let you enjoy these (for now) and will add some more photos in another post. But hope your still enjoying following my blog?!
