The location of our beach is in Matabungkay, it’s a favorite for the locals too, which is apparent because Saturday was PACKED here, lots of kids and LOTS more Karaoke.
On Sunday morning, the locals make sure they enjoy every minute of their time (away from work obviously). The hotel slowly started to fall a little quieter about mid afternoon as guests checked out, but the local vendors still approached trying to get those last minute sales.
We didn’t have any activities planned (since the group wasn’t joining us) so we just laid out, soaked up the sun; we did take a paddle boat out on Sunday so the guys could snorkel – (that was funny though since too made FAT Americans, we almost sunk out boat). HA We did go for some walks along the beach and into the town, I loved seeing the REAL life here though – the cement buildings, lots of scooters zooming past us and on Sunday evening we went to the little ‘fair’ – with bingo, ping pong games and such.
I WAS considered a Filipino (I even two people ask me where I grew up, “your English is so good”) HA HA. I do have the dark coloring and short stature (so I’m flattered) other than I did get some ‘nasty’ looks because I am with three white men! HA HA
As the day started to draw to an end, I even spotted SANTA CLAUS – now I know where he comes on HIS holiday. HA HA He was sharing Tanduay with the locals.
You can see that the guys were definitely HAPPY too …
Monday morning we headed back to Manila and to the Aruga Hotel. Unfortunately the ‘little SUV’ that R.J.’s dad sent over to pick us up was even smaller than the one we took to the beach – so Prem had to sit in the very back (literally the cargo area) with our luggage & I was smashed between Ellis & Michael. And his AC hardly worked… (car sick for the 3 hour ride)…
But THANKFULLY when we arrived at the hotel, we had been upgraded for our rooms. YEAH! Michael and I were up on the 7th floor (at least not able to hear quite the road noise) and to a suite and AIR CONDITIONING! LOL After a quick lunch I came back to the lovely suite to do my ‘wifely duties’ (ha ha) and do laundry… (the guys had another meeting).
I tried not to eat the little treat they left us too (chocolate coffee cake)… yum! Hey, I can do laundry, have some coffee and cake right?
Thanks for letting me share my fun Philippine trip (we will be heading to Singapore tomorrow) and sending Chris & Ellis home… 🙂 Had a FABULOUS time, love the people (and Michael’s colleagues) and also had some good food!
