Since Seattle has been ‘celebrating’ some odd (fairly sunny) weather (sorry to the other half of the U.S.), we did a little pre-spring cleaning.
On Saturday, Michael and I: 1. cleaned up his old car, 2. took it to get the oil changed, 3. I bought groceries to make a carrot cake for my daughter (actually it’s for my ex-husband – her dad) who is coming from Texas to visit her, 4. dropped off the car, along with 4 patio chairs to her, (have to add that Anais did an amazing job of cleaning the house and decorating the bedroom for her dad – so thrilled to see her so happy), 5. I took her grocery shopping for her dad’s visit (in return she and Rob made Michael, E & I BBQ for lunch) and then we came home where and I, 6. started some laundry, 7. and eventually fell asleep around midnight.
So MY Sunday was pre-spring cleaning day for ME, and Michael was nice enough to also help me with some of the outdoor chores: 1. he cleaned up the backyard while I worked on the front yard. There was more than enough leaves, pine needles and mulch to clean, but unfortunately I ran out of room in the yard waste bin. 2. Michael moved the old tarp that we had under the patio furniture (we still have the table to take to Anais) and cleaned it along with the mossy tables, 3. I then did my ‘infamous’ spanish cleaning (straw broom, bleach and suds) to the mossy deck once again (really can’t wait to buy that power washer) – but this definitely helps in the mean time… (loved seeing the pink blooms and the daffodils peaking through). I’ll finish up the grass & remainder next weekend, 4. I had to trim the shrub (next to the front door so we can get to faucet easier) and Michael went inside to shower while I sat for a quick breather and to stretch out.
Afterwards, while I showered, Michael started some bread and made me a cup of coffee. While he worked (literally he had to do some work work), I came into my craft/writing/junk room and, 5. started to sift through my old magazines/books and watched the clouds coming back in the sky (we are supposed to get rain again).
Feels good to start March 1st with some yard work though and I really looking forward to getting my new room in place. Glad I swapped bedrooms with E.
So, what do YOU do to ‘celebrate’ pre-Spring or does March feel like a reason to ‘celebrate’?
