So I am continually working on my Halloween props – enjoying the creativity and also getting Michael’s help has been nice. It’s fun working on projects together and I appreciate his constant support and how he keep smiling and saying, “I’m amazed at what your doing, it’s fun to see how creative you are.” (such a nice compliment & I DO like being creative)…
There are all sorts of ‘bits & pieces’ to each one of the props I’m working on, some that I can nearly complete and others that have to be done in stages. As you all saw from the Haunted Tree – it took some time, in fact we went to the hardware store (again) and I decided that one thing I should have added BEFORE I had done the foam was to add some chicken wire to the top – so trying to adjust it now. The chicken wire will help support MORE branches that I want to add to the top and I’m hoping to drip some moss and spider webs as well – to really finish it. I’ll show you that once we get closer to Halloween – I don’t want the branches to be TOO brittle right now (with all the heat we’ve had). I also need to spray the chicken wire black to hopefully hide it – but adding it AFTER is going to be tricky.
One of the next projects I worked on was happily getting the AMAZING dress that mom made for me! WOW – I am SO lucky she still sews so well and it turned out perfect. This is for the Mars Attack Alien woman – we couldn’t find the red swirl fabric, so we made it cheaper with just plain white and now MY job is to add the swirls with fabric paint…
Well, here is what I got done this weekend – having to stop, let it dry and also to keep from getting hand cramps – it’s actually hard squeezing the bottle and swirling, while trying to be consistent and as you can see, I made a few blobs/messes but, I have to realize it’s not perfect and hey, it’s home made! lol It will be one of the works in progress, since I also have to lay it down, adjust the fabric from creasing, etc. Oh, I should mention, the mannequin is an athletic runner one, so she’s rather thin build. I needed to add some butt & hips! LOL And also have to pad the boobs… thank goodness for Goodwill.
This is the mask I am adding, and I will also be putting on the blonde wig. I didn’t want to just do the woman, I wanted the combination – makes it a little more spooky and fun. Can’t wait to show you the finished project.
Michael was a doll for helping me with several other small projects and I’ve given him the task of creating the incinerator for my Sweeney Todd – to which I DID take the company van on Friday and picked up my barber chair from a tattoo place in Tacoma. So excited to work on that elements as well.
Hope you all had a good weekend?
