With the funny weather we had this weekend (hot one and 1/2 days and chilly the next) it definitely made for an interesting weekend.
Friday was nice and sunny (very warm for Seattle), but a very high pollen count (lots of it blowing in the air) – especially after I had started my spring cleaning (vacuumed ceiling fans, vents, cobwebs, windows, etc.) only to have the pollen and dust blow back in… ugh. Also had to cut all the dog hair out of the roller on the vacuum! And I also mowed the grass once again.
But for my sister it eventually turned out to be a GOOD day (following a long, grueling time dealing with part of her divorce) – she thankfully got what she had hoped for (the same parenting plan that will allow the best time for her two little children – her son is too young to spend too much time away from her). I am very happy for her!
I had a great evening, I met up with a former colleague (and friend, as I like to call her) Carol T. at Willows Lodge to chat about Bora Bora. She wanted to know where we went and any recommendations (it’s one of the locations they may go for their anniversary). So glad to share all the information I could (and just spending time with her). I even had the pleasure of meeting her wonderful (quiet) husband, who joined us at the end. I talked way too much (no surprise) but was so enjoying having someone else to talk to (other than Michael & my sister)… I needed this!
Saturday also turned out to be a gorgeous sunny day. Had a slight headache though, probably from the pollen (and yes, I enjoyed my drinks with Carol) but I could tell it was my sinuses. Michael and E spent the morning together (going to laser tag & having a birthday lunch, E’s birthday was on the April 1st). I spent the day just sitting outside and snapping some silly photos around the yard while Archer joined me.
Michael wanted to BBQ and asked me to make some of my ‘infamous’ Sangria. I suggested we invite Mom, Monette & the kids over, but eventually decided to go over to their house instead. We still need to work on our deck and with the nice weather I didn’t want to be inside. I made Monette a white wine sangria, which I will admit turned out pretty damn good too! 🙂
Sunday was overcast and a little chilly. Eventually my cute little daughter woke up and Michael and I drove over to pick her up. She had asked if we could take her for a hike (she spent her Saturday afternoon going to Snoqualmie Falls with her boyfriend). Luckily I told her to bring some pants and a warmer little jacket. Michael drove us up to Mount Washington Trail (just on the other side of Snoqualmie & North Bend). We started on what we thought was going to be just the regular trail (3.5 miles), but my daughter spotted this path to the left and I asked if she wanted to go that direction instead? Stupid me! LOL It ended up being the trail to Mount Washington and the much more inclined (steep) trek up the mountain. Let’s just say, I once again DID NOT stop talking (well, bitching was more like it). Seriously, this reminded me how seriously out of shape I am in! Thank goodness for that cooler weather periodically. Anais walked in front (without a backpack) and eventually we made it (at least to what we found out after) was “Owl Hike Spot” (look at the link here for more information). We didn’t make it all the way to the top (way too tired), but stopped to enjoy this view, a little snow caps and gatorade & trail mix! We didn’t do bad though, for our first hike in years (lol) – about 5.5 to 6 miles roundtrip, but our legs (and knees) definitely got a workout!!
Came home exhausted, showered and we all set moaning while waiting for our pizza order (to tired to cook). But we got a little surprise too – Archer the cat was wildly jumping at the back windows only for us to see that we now have a little mommy raccoon that was looking for a place to possibly give birth at (we think she likes the spots under our crappy deck)! Poor thing though, she looks like she got her tail chopped off. But she was very obviously pregnant and stayed around the yard for Archer’s amusement!
Hope you all had a good weekend!?
