Thursday afternoon I went to pick up mom so she could spend the weekend with me. She’s so sweet & considerate. Yes, my sister (and myself) can’t always say that about mom, but you know what, (MO) you need to look at who your parents are right now! Sorry, that was a little blurb for my whining little sister… lol. See, whining (venting) is a family trait. I’m trying myself (and to teach Mo) to look at the positives, rather than the negative! Remember, I said that was MY own motto for this year and even with the job loss, I am NOT going to let that be a negative! I’ve enjoyed having my visit with mom. She, of course, made me tortilla’s and we enjoyed watching the whole First Season of Grace & Frankie (which she loved too). We share the same Edward Scissorhands mentality of pruning in the yard (ha ha) we clipped more of the rose bushes down.
Friday morning I took mom to her eye doctor appointment and then we went to the store to grab some deli trays and wine. I was happy to have had some good FRIENDS – Erica, Tanya, Carol & Amanda join me and mom on Friday evening for a girls night! These wonderful ladies are just some of the ones I worked with and so it was nice to have what I want to call my LAST ‘raise a glass to …’ (won’t name the company) and farewell! They allowed me to vent (which I needed) and it reminded me that I had 4 good years, both good & bad, but the best memories will be that I made some very good friends and acquaintances and I will never forget that. These ladies and several others (male & female) former colleagues made those 4 years memorable and taught me lots, which I am grateful for (even if I never told them). As they say, never stop learning.
Saturday morning we woke up even more sick (my head felt like a bowling ball from sinus headache) but we were going to meet up with Kathy, Katie & their friend to go see Kathy’s wedding reception venue. We didn’t get to join them for breakfast, but finally found the place (after some driving around – lol – GPS doesn’t like highway only addresses). Kathy’s friend has some great ideas for her, I don’t think there is anything I really need to help with, but glad to see it and be a support (if she needs). It’s the Lakeshore High School (which I don’t know why I hadn’t heard of it?) but apparently Bill Gates went to school there – it definitely looks like an old academy and the little venue place made us all laugh that it reminded us of the school for Harry Potter. LOL Too cute! Will be fun to see what her girlfriend does with it!
Afterwards I took mom home, as we ‘glided’ over the highway (constant rain showers). I then came home and tried to get some rest. As I settled down on the couch, Michael pinged me (rather late) and said that he was actually going to come home late tonight – he missed me! Awww… 🙂 too bad I sounded like a Canadian goose from blowing my nose and the hacking cough – but I was happy that he’d be back.
Sunday morning (after much needed snuggles with Michael) – okay except for the damn constant hacking cough that I’m sure kept him awake as much as it did me, we had another odd morning of sun! I made him some poached eggs on toast and bacon. I still love trying to make the ‘perfect poached egg’ – I’ve been doing the version that I read in a shallow pan but I still can’t seem to get the egg white to stay as close to the yolk. When you pour it into the pan it quickly separates and trying to spoon it out (even with a slotted spoon) it ends up with too much water). HA HA – Sorry, that was a squirrel moment…
We went for a little walk until my chest started to wheeze – but the sun and FRESH air actually felt good! Ended the weekend watching the movie: The Intern (again) and snuggling!
Hope you all had a good weekend?
